Learning about life, through … chickens?

I love my chickens. And I’m so amazed by how much God has taught me about life and His love through these feathery friends.

At first, I was too afraid to let my flock of chickens out due to fear of predators or the worry of them running off too far and not coming home. Then my friend Shannon gifted me some of her chickens. These chicks were already trained to come out in the mornings and do the job they were designed to do. They knew exactly what to do when it was getting dark. They would put themselves to bed on their own. It was so miraculous to see how they just knew what to do because they’d been shown what to do.

It reminded me of what it’s like to be a parent of littles. We must lead by example. If you wake up early in the morning and give God your first ten percent, then they will see you and follow along. This is why I sit here and write this at 8 am after I let the girls out of their coop. I sit down and spend time with the Father and it’s a beautiful thing that happens. He speaks to me and I know He will speak to you too. If you rise up early as the rooster crows and your desire is to hear from Him, He will crow loud and clear. But be careful what you ask for because He may give you more than you think you can handle. And the next thing you know, you may be writing about, chickens, parenting and the life of a chiropractor. Ha!
